I find it
fascinating in Jonah 4:11 that God describes an incredibly wicked city, a city
deserving judgement, as a city filled with people who do not know their right
hand from their left. They are confused. Not knowing up from down, left from right, right from wrong.
How much does this correspond to people today in our own nation, who are so disconnected
from God, they do not even know how to correctly determine what a man or a
woman is, or what is or is not a medical experiment. They are lost, confused, cast adrift.
What is also
incredible is how much pity God has on such a city. So much pity he is willing
to warn it, so that it would not be destroyed. He is set against them and their
sin, but he is for them if they repent. And that is the key; if they repent.
Our nation
is filled with people who do not know their left hand from their right. Which
is why they so easily fell for the nonsense pedaled in the last few years,
whether on gender, or sicknesses, foreign military adventures and more.
Our nation
needs more Jonahs, from Jonah chapter 3 and less Jonah's from Jonah chapter 1. It needs them now. People need to be warned to repent and turn to Jesus.
