"Israel
is undefeatable because God is on her side", is what the false prophets
told Israel and Judah in the Bible. "Peace, peace, when there is no
peace."
"God is
on Israel's side as long as they are in the will of God", is what every
true prophet told the house of Israel in the Bible.
This is the
vital, and necessary key to understanding God's will for his people. That we
live in his will or face judgement: no one has the right to God's protection,
who will not live in the will of God. God may grant it, still, but we have no
claim on it.
What is
God's will for Israel? What is it that he wants them to do?
This:
"25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God? 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” (John 6:25-29).
As long as
the Jewish people refuse to do this, they stand outside of God's will for them.
This is true
for all of us. If we reject Christ we too will stand outside of God's will for
us and face judgement.
What does
God require that we do? Believe in the one whom he sent, the Son of God. What
is God's will for the physical people of Israel? The same thing.
