Whose side
is God on? Many people make a big error with this because they forget that God is on his own side.
We read in
Joshua 5:13-15
"13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” 15 And the commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so."
When Joshua
asks whose side is God on, Israel's or Israel's enemies, the Angel of the Lord
says, "No." Why? Because God is on his own side. His side is the
winning side. It is our job as human beings to make sure that we bow before God
and join his side and not expect God to always be for us. He is for us when we
are in his will, but he is against us when we are not. Because God is on his
side.
Jesus taught
the very same thing.
John 15:10, "10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love."
When those
who claim to be his people do not act like it, God is not for them. Which is a
message we should all take to heart.
