Where the World Is Going

Image: Unsplash

With the direction the world is going right now, I think many Australians need to sit down and take notice and make some changes in their lives. There are several monumental events that are happening, that many people do not understand the significance of and because of this they are not adapting their lives to be prepared for the coming changes. I don’t intend to discuss this in any serious detail, because that would require pages and pages of analysis and examination. But I think it is good to give a brief overview of the direction the world is heading and how the world is facing many challenges and changes.

So, what are these changes?

Well, everyone is aware of the war that is happening in Ukraine, but not many people are aware that this conflict is only one theatre of a much larger conflict. The principle opponents,  as far as most people are concerned, are the big Russia and the “poor little” Ukraine. But as is becoming much more clear to many people, the real opponents are The United States and its allies/satellites, in Europe and beyond, and Russia and its allies. For a long time many people were not able to see this, and the war has entered the background news phase for so many people, that even though they may be aware that the United States is driving this thing, they really don’t care. All they care about is paying their bills and living their lives.

But this is why you should care. Because this war is going to have a negative effect on those basic realities of life. Russia is a major oil and natural resource producer, and because of this is a direct competitor to the United States, especially in Europe. Many nations in Europe were dependent on gas and oil resources from Russia, and the United States has been working hard to break this reliance, and move Europe to greater reliance on American and allied resources. China on the other hand is the real and more direct threat to American influence and power in the world, and China’s refusal to condemn or work against Russia has intensified the United States desire for conflict with China…where almost everything is made. And if it is not made not in China, it is made near China, in places like Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.

This has created what economists like Vox Day and Michael Hudson call a bifurcation in the world economy. Rather than one global system dominated by the United States, a new era is rising where China, Russia and other allied or friendly nations, increasingly trade with each other and cut out the relatively wealthy, but also relatively resource and production poor western nations that are aligned with the United States. In reality, this bifurcation has been coming for years, because a multi-polar world is the norm, not a unipolar world, and eventually nations were going to start to react against American sanctions and military incursions to keep reticent nations in line.

Think about the effect that this is going to have on an economy like ours in Australia? Australia has partly grown so wealthy because of our resource rich ground, our British culture and laws, and our reliance on off shoring production so that we can buy cheaper products back from overseas. This has a temporary enriching effect on an economy like ours, because we can buy more and more things at better and better prices. This works as long as people are able to be redirected to other jobs and fields, and you retain good relations with your trading partners, and you don’t mind slowly enriching other nations, while your own nation’s ability to create and build things diminishes. Oh, and you don't mind losing your national identity.

Eventually, the good times will come to an end, and then you are reliant on buying most things from overseas just to live your daily lives. If you get your phones, T.V.s, computers, and especially things like oil from overseas, what happens to your economy when alliances start to shift and the nations you once lifted up through giving them your production are now in the position of not needing to sell to you, because they have better, friendlier markets? What happens is your society becomes very expensive to maintain. This is happening right now in our own nation. Inflation is still growing in Australia, and rising oil prices are making it very hard for our economy to reach equilibrium. In fact, this is happening across the West, as trading partnerships change and the world adjusts to the bifurcation of the globes economies.

Something Australians need to realize, and something for which many Australians are not prepared to accept, is that we are entering a phase where the West is no longer the largest, wealthiest, most productive or favoured region of the world. For several decades now the West has been creating this situation with off-shoring and an increasing focus on the financialization of the western economies, rather than making real world products. This means, if the fractures in the world increase, and it appears likely that they will, because they currently are, western nations will find themselves in a situation where our ability to get things like we did before is gone. A bit like wealthy ancient Rome surrounded by Goths, Vandals and Huns, rich but with little hard power. Countries like Russia and China have been preparing for such a world by relying more and more on domestic production capabilities, and building friendly relations with other up and coming nations. Nations like Australia, on the other hand, have deepened their reliance on the belligerent United States, and large supply lines that spread throughout the world, and especially into areas of the world the West is turning against, like East Asia.

To put is bluntly: the easy ride we westerners have enjoyed for sometime now is coming to an end. For centuries the Western economies have been the favoured economies in the world. But this favour has been mishandled. The skyrocketing cost of living in western nations is partly coming about because of this situation. And it is only going to get worse.

More and more countries are now buying oil in their own domestic currencies, bypassing and therefore weakening the United States financial dominance. More and more counties are starting to assert themselves against the U.S. and its satellites (of which we are one), and this is why you see our leaders increasingly talking about war with China, about buying U.S. arms and supplying arms to the U.S.. This is why there is so much hysteria about Russia standing up to American dominance in Ukraine, because if countries like Russia can so effectively oppose the will of the U.S. on foreign affairs, then the United States is obviously not as powerful as people once thought. And the big nations can now do their own thing.

The results of this will mean several things, more war, already we are in a World War, the sides are lining up against each other, Ukraine is a just a part of that, the economic battles are another. It is in the early stages, but it is escalating. The longer term results mean that we will no longer live in a nation allied to the world’s only superpower that can sanction other nations at will, but we will live in a world where more powerful nations can extend their dominance in their region, and likely sanction who they believe to be troublemakers in their own regions, or even worse, bringing nearby nations into their orbit of power as satrapies, conquests and colonies.

So with all this said, and much more can be said, here are a few bits of advice about what I would and would not be doing right now.

1)     I would not be increasing debt. Now is the time to pay down debts, and leverage your assets to become as independent as possible. The interest rate pain we are experiencing at the moment is only the beginnings of such pains. The increasing costs of things like oil and fuel are likely going to get much worse. Western nations have made themselves very vulnerable to interference in these area from overseas actors.

2)   Don’t move away from family. Now is not the time for disconnecting yourself from family connections. Some people might think now is a good time to try and find a place which will not be effected by the war. But how can you control that? What you can control is who you know, how close you live to them, and how well you get along with them (to a degree).

3)     Build community. Join a church where you can talk with people about what is happening in the world. Invest in the lives of others and build more relationships with trustworthy people. Add your skills and knowledge to a community and become a valuable member of it. Seek to do the same in your neighbourhood. Knowing people and where to get even basic things like eggs, milk and meat, and help fixing things.

4)     Be like the ant: Proverbs 6:6-8, “6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. 7 Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, 8 she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” Proverbs 30:24-25, “24 Four things on earth are small, but they are exceedingly wise: 25 the ants are a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer;…” Prepare like an extended winter is coming, because economically it is very likely that one is. Get used to fixing things, working on things, and improving things yourself. And spend (frugally) like the good times are over, because soon they will be, really they already are.

5)     War in unpredictable, and all of your preparations to sustain yourself can be undone if the battlefield comes near your home or city. So learn how to be a bit more self-reliant, to live with less, practice things like hiking, camping, and living simply, stay fit, and ready to move on foot over large distances if you need to.

You don’t need to change your whole way of life. You can continue to live relatively normally. You just have to recognize that the world is changing. The easy lifestyle we grew up with and which the West is used to experiencing is coming to an end. It may not be that our whole way of life is turned upside down, just that it becomes harder to prosper or live well, than it has been in recent decades. The times of prosperity we have experienced have been pretty unprecedented anyway. Who but the uber rich in history had extended overseas vacations and ate gourmet foods regularly? Who but the uber wealthy lived in such comfort and relative ease? We have lived at the peak of a prosperous golden age, all good things come to an end. Don’t let the ending of this one take you by surprise.

How We Know God Cares For Us

You can watch the video of this short message hereThis is an excerpt from a longer message that I will be sharing a bit later.

One of the most important things that many Christians forget is that if we truly care about people then that means we will tell them the truth. Even if it is not popular and sometimes when it is not wanted. Because if you really care about someone or you really want to do good then you will warn someone of a present danger. God does this very same thing for us too:

The Warning (3:4) – Hence the warning. God told Jonah to go and preach to the Ninevehites whatever he told him to preach, now that Jonah is repentant and ready to obey, this is exactly what he does, finally. And this is what he proclaims: “4 Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” The shortest and most effective sermon ever. Really simple isn’t it. It is almost as succinct and means much the same thing as the old movie sidewalk prophet’s sign, “Repent, for the end is nigh!”

What a message, a short message, but what a message. Jonah warns the Ninevehites that destruction is coming. No big illustrations, no meandering, no side-issues, no pleading with them. Just a straight up warning about the coming wrath.

This is also how we know that God loved the Ninevehites: he really wanted to warn them about their coming destruction. This is the key linchpin to understanding this whole passage, this whole book. In reality, this is the key linchpin to understanding the word of God: God cares. God does not want people to perish, he does not want people to be destroyed. As God tells us in Ezekiel 18:32, “32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.” The fact that God wants to warn the sinner shows that he cares.

Why do you warn someone about the danger that is coming? So that disaster will not happen. So that they can be rescued from it. Warning someone of danger can sometimes be the most obnoxious thing they experience from you, but it is often a necessary act of love. One that might even make them hate you.

This allows me to address a serious issue that many Christians face in the world today. Some Christians, and this is terrible, think that when you have a non-Christian friend who chooses a destructive way of life, or a dangerous path of life, that the best thing to do is just be nice to them and love them no matter what, and affirm them, no matter what. These Christians think this is loving.

The reason they think this is loving, is because the world’s definition of love is affirmation no matter what. In fact, the world will say that if you do not affirm their way of life, their every decision, their sexuality, their greed, their gluttony, their arrogance, their narcissism, their gender identity, or whatever, you are hateful, bigoted, or evil.

But the truth is to affirm destructive behaviours is hateful. Because it helps move the person towards destruction. Would it have been loving for God to affirm the evil ways of the Ninevehites? No, because this would have guaranteed their destruction would come sooner.”

Are you willing to warn people of the danger that they are heading towards? Because this is a key part of truly loving as Christ would have us love. Don’t fall for the world’s definition of love, affirmation is not love, sometimes affirmation can be loving, but in the wrong situation, or towards the wrong behaviour, it can be devastating to be affirming. Love and truth are not opposites, they are fellows that must always accompany each other.

Not Welcome Any More

Image: Unsplash

Welcome to country is one of those modern phenomenons that you see everywhere, find hardly any ordinary person supports, but that is continually promoted and supported by the elite classes of society. And not just the elites of secular society, churches engage in this nonsense to. I know of church services which have begun with either a welcome to country or acknowledgment of country before the service has even referenced the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer. I sat at a major denominational meeting where the chair of the denomination’s board got up and did the acknowledgement of country and then prayed. It was a travesty to behold it happening. It is insufferable to see continually at the start of every major sporting event some middle aged guy get up mostly naked and dance in some smoke ceremony, it is blasphemy to see church services and meetings begin with it.

But one denomination has said no more, as reported by Caldron pool,

“The Presbyterian Church of Australia has banned its congregations from conducting the Welcome to Country in their worship services.

The General Assembly of Australia (GAA), which gathered in Sydney last week, deemed Acknowledgement of Country practices “inappropriate for public worship where the call to worship centres on God.”

Moderator-General David Burke outlined the decision in a letter to Presbyterian congregations on Thursday, noting the wording of acknowledgments of country “almost invariably carries overtones of an Indigenous spirituality inconsistent with Christian belief.”

Burke added, “As Christians, we have to avoid wording that suggests final ownership of land is vested in people rather than with the Creator.”[i]

Praise God. This is what we need to see happen more and more. It has felt like for some time now the march of “progress” (really regress) or radical liberalism has been inevitable and unstoppable. But for those of us who know our history we know that there are all sorts of swings and roundabouts in the development and history of nations. Sometime nations progress towards higher Christian ideals, sometimes they regress to paganistic ideas and call this progress. Our nation has been in the throws of one of these declines in recent decades. But there are green shoots of hope showing that a turn many be coming.

It was also really encouraging to see the Presbyterian minister Mark Powell given a platform on national T.V. to explain why the Presbyterian church has made this move.

Progressivism is not inevitable. Mostly because it is not really progress, but regress back to a more primitive and heathen worldview. Society can only cope with so much regress before things start to really fall apart. And despite what some people would have you think, the church is still strong in the West. It is largely asleep and it is converged in many places. But there are large and growing segments of the church who are taking notice of how God would really have us be good citizens and they are starting to become more active in opposing the move back to paganism.

It is really good to see this, so be encouraged. I think more moves like this are down the track. The Voice to Parliament has not gotten the support from society that the elites thought that it would. More and more people are discontented with the direction progressivism is taking society, and more and more people are starting to make the right kind of noise about heading back towards sanity. Praise God.

Babylon 19th Century Edition

Image: Unsplash

Many people are aware of the passage in Revelation 18:23 regarding Babylon that says “and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.” And they are also aware that the word for sorcery that is used is “pharmakeia” from which we get the modern word pharmacy. The reason a word referring to drugs is also translated to refer to magic is really rather simple; drug use is intrinsic to sorcery and drug use also opens you up to supernatural influences.

Babylon has always relied on satanic worship and rituals which involved various kinds of sorcery and people have correctly noted that there are deep connections between the pharmaceutical company and the kind of deception and evil associated with sorcery. A very prominent example is from one of the founders of psychology himself, Sigmund Freud. Freud was effectively a modern Chaldean, that is a magi or dream interpreter. Dream interpretation was central to the development of psychology and Freud’s usage of what amounts to a modern version of ancient Dream interpretation practices is quite famous. As Freud notes,

“In what we may term "prescientific days" people were in no uncertainty about the interpretation of dreams. When they were recalled after awakening they were regarded as either the friendly or hostile manifestation of some higher powers, demoniacal and Divine. With the rise of scientific thought the whole of this expressive mythology was transferred to psychology; to-day there is but a small minority among educated persons who doubt that the dream is the dreamer's own psychical act.”[i]

So, the connection between psychology and sorcery is really not up for debate. Psychologists and psychiatrists are in many very specific ways the heirs of ancient magi/dream interpretation practices. So it should surprise no one that Freud was a big fan of and a peddler of drugs. The man was a peddler of cocaine, thst is he was paid by the pharmaceutical companies to push cocaine onto people.

There is no doubt that the pharmaceutical company is just an extension of Babylon, and it should surprise no one to see the deep connections between early psychology and the biggest drug dealers in the world. They have deceived the world with their pharmakeia and they continue to do it.

A Win For Sanity And For Family Rights

A Win For Sanity And For Family Rights

I sometimes wonder how so many modern Christian families can still tolerate the schooling system. I know for some of them it is a necessity, they have bills or work commitments that they need to fulfil and therefore both parents have to work. But there are others who seek to engage with a very woke and corrupted system by choice. I know some schools are better than others, and some schools are doing a great job at training young people to stand up against the culture. But overall the schooling system in countries like the USA or ours are dogmatic propaganda centres that are designed to turn young people into little representatives of the secularized modern culture, some with a thin Christian veneer on top.

But sometimes this goes way further than others, and sometimes there are wins for those who still believe in sanity. For instance this situation in California which was reported by CBN,

“A California school district has settled a lawsuit for $100,000 with a mother who alleged her daughter was socially transitioned to a new "gender identity" by school staff without informing or getting her permission.

It's a case that has been called a landmark victory for parental rights.

The Spreckels Union School District in Monterey County resolved the lawsuit filed by Jessica Konen who claimed the school fostered her 11-year-old daughter Alicia's identification as a boy. Konen is represented by the Center for American Liberty, a nonprofit law firm that announced the settlement on Tuesday.

According to the law firm, Alicia was recruited to join an "Equality Club" where she was taught about bisexuality, transgender identities, and other LGBT concepts in the sixth grade.

In addition to giving the girl articles on how to conceal a new gender identity from her family, she was placed on a "Gender Support Plan" that instructed school staff to refer to her by a male name and male pronouns and to let her use the unisex teachers' restroom, the Center for American Liberty said.

According to the 25-page lawsuit, "Under the Parental Secrecy Policy, Buena Vista teachers and staff would keep secret from parents that their children had articulated confusion about their gender identity, evinced a desire to change their gender identity, or assumed or expressed a new gender identity unless the student expressly authorized the parents to be informed."

With the help of the Center for American Liberty, a nonprofit law firm, Konen sued the district in state court in June of 2022.”[1]

Praise God for this victory for this mother. And praise God, that according to the article, this young girl has decided to start correctly referring to herself as a girl again. These are two very good wins.

But make no mistake about what happened here. This girl was recruited and groomed into a radical sexual identity group that had the potential to lead her down a very dark and dangerous path, that often ends up in radical and harmful surgery and other medical procedures. And this all happened in her school. A system which is supposed to exist to educate children, but has become one of the main vehicles in our society dedicated to confusing young people about basic and fundamental realities like sex, gender and many other things.

This is far more common in the modern school system than many people realize. I have even been informed by people that in relatively conservative Christian schools there are children who the teachers and students are required to refer to by “preferred pronouns”. So, you need to be very plugged into what is happening in your child’s school, because a lot of young children are being taught stuff by their teachers and encouraged in stuff by their peers, which would terrify many parents. And it is not on. It is wrong.

But there is pushback. This mother is an example of this kind of pushback. As she says, "Parents please be bold," she continued. "Stand up for your children and fight for them. Fight for your rights." [2]

This case was not a complete win, the school did not have to admit fault as part of the settlement. A payout for this kind of behaviour is far below what should be the basic minimum response. This child was harmed by a system which is geared towards teaching children dangerous stuff about their identity.

Obviously, parents who homeschool do not have to worry about any of this kind of nonsense. But for parents who choose to be a part of the schooling system you have to make sure that you are constantly engaging with the spiritual and ethical status of the school in which your children are involved. Get to know the principal, get to know their teachers, make sure you are aware of the views of your children’s friends, and other influences in their lives. And don’t let schools get away with this kind of behaviour. Parents have rights. The laws and rules are different in Australia than they are in a place like California, but you still have rights as your child’s parents, and if you get even a whiff that your kid is in a school where children have the right to keep their “identity” secret from their parents, pull them out of there faster than you can get to the school.

Don’t think that this cannot happen to you. I know this sort of thing has happened to some solid Christian families, who just took their eye of the ball.[3] Be aware, and let’s turn this thing around. There are homeschoolers who believe in just disconnecting from the system, and I understand why they feel this way, I can empathize with it quite well. The system feels broken and in many cases it genuinely is. But we do need schools to be better. Schools will probably always educate the vast majority of children, so we need them to be better. If you are involved in the schooling system, be like this mother, and "Stand up for your children and fight for them. Fight for your rights."

[3] Some of the best advice I have heard about solving this situation if your child comes home from school hinting at any kind of attaching to radical gender ideology, is that you should get them out of the school and away from their friends as soon as possible. Change their school environment and their social network, and surround them with love, and this will almost certainly bring them back around. But if you leave them in that environment the bad ideology will be reinforced. So be aware of this, it can be opposed and your child’s future is worth the effort that it takes to remove them from such a situation.

The Lord Giveth

“The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.”

These are words to live by. It is all in the Lord’s hands. Each moment we have with each gift that he gives us, is a moment more than we deserved by right, but that we can receive with thankfulness.

Job had this perspective, and he clung to it when he was at his lowest point in his life. When his wife told him to curse God and die, he responded, “9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” (Job 2:9-10). And when tragedy struck his family he said, “20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:20-21).

Job was not being stoic, he was not just grinning and bearing it. We know this because the book of Job shows us how Job wrestled with God and questioned why he, a righteous man, was going through these trials and troubles. But ultimately he knew something very important about God: it is better for us to accept God’s will, than to fight it. It is better to recognize the temporary nature of many things in this world, but the permanence of God who is at work no matter what. Because if we can do that, we will be content in times of trouble, and we will be like rocks in period of tumult.

Job was able to remain grounded in one of the most terrible moments of his life, because he knew that every good gift he had came from God above, and his greatest gift above all of that was the gift giver himself, the Lord God. Let this be our perspective. It is our surest anchor.

How The Communists Broke People

Image: Unsplash

There is an old saying, misery loves company. The person who lives in pain and misery will often seek to bring others down into their misery. Another similar saying could be, the wicked love to have accomplices, because those who engage in evil love to have the reassurance that others are engaging in the same evil as them. For this reason, among others, wicked people will seek to corrupt and sully others. The sinner is comforted to know that they are not alone in their sin, they have a partner, someone with whom to share the responsibility and the blame. The wicked for this reason delight in enticing others into their miserable deeds.

This is how addicts will act. It is how the corrupt will act. And it is how criminal gangs will act. They will seek to break people by bringing them down to their level. Victor Suvarov shows us, in his book The Chief Culprit, that this is how the communists broke people and forced them into line, but on a grand and very evil scale,

“Communists then began to fortify their armed forces, which they called the Red Army. Junior officer Tukhachevski had a meeting with Lenin and Trotsky. What they talked about is not known, but Tukhachevski was immediately appointed commander of the 1st Army of the Eastern Front. Here, suddenly, surfaced Tukhachevski's ferocious nature. The Civil War in Russia was not only a war, but also a series of punitive expeditions against those who did not want Communism. Tukhachevski declared all those who opposed the illegal Communist leadership to be "bandits," and viciously exterminated not only them but also their relatives, their neighbors, and everyone who happened to come his way. The foundation of Tukhachevski's "strategy" was: the burning of villages, whippings, and mass shootings. Tukhachevski phrased the main objective not only of the Civil War, but of any other war as well, very clearly: "With an iron hand crush the local enemy classes." Many of Tukhachevski’s  combat orders are not about how to use a clever manoeuvre to bypass the enemy and hit him in the flank and rear, but about how many hostages are to be taken and when they are to be executed. Here is an example:

ORDER

To the Plenipotentiary Commission of All-Russia

Central Executive Committee, # 16

City of Tambov

June 23, 1921

The experience of the first combat area shows a high predisposition for quick cleansing from banditry through the following measures. Some localities with particularly strong bandit tendencies are noted, and representatives of the region's Political Commission, of a Special Section, Sections of the Military Tribunal and Command, together with units designed to conduct purges, are sent there. Upon their arrival, they surround the area, take hostage 60—100 of the most prominent persons, and introduce a siege. Entering and exiting the area must be forbidden during the course of the operation. After this, the entire population of the area is gathered, and the orders of the Commission of the All-Russia Central Executive Committee #130 and #171 and the signed sentence for this area are read aloud. The residents are given 2 hours to give up the bandits and their weapons, as well as the bandits' families, and the population is told that in the event of refusal the abovementioned hostages will be shot in 2 hours. If the population does not give up the bandits and weapons within the two-hour time limit, they are once again rounded up and the hostages are shot before their eyes, after which new hostages are taken and those gathered are once again told to give up the bandits and their weapons. Those who wish to comply with the demands are separated, divided into groups of a hundred, and each hundred is put through a questioning commission (consisting of representatives of the Special Sector and the Military Tribunal). Each person must give a testimony, and not be allowed to claim ignorance. In the event of stubbornness, new executions are enacted, etc. From the material obtained through the questioning, expeditionary units are formed with  the compulsory inclusion of the persons who gave the testimony, and they venture to capture the bandits. Upon the end of the purge, the siege is ended, and a revolutionary committee and militia are established to rule the area.

The current Plenipotentiary Commission of the All-Russia Central Executive Committee orders to execute this order fully.

Chairman of the Commission

Antonov-Ovseenko

Troops Commander

Tukhachevski

Tukhachevski and all other participants of that war against their own people declared themselves heroes of the Civil War.

Pay particular attention to the date of Tukhachevski's order: June 23, 1921. Twenty years later, Russia would be invaded by different occupants, but they would act in almost the same way. The difference was that Hitler herded the enemy's population into a ravine and machine-gunned them, while Tukhachevski, on top of this, besieged the entire population of his own country with a mutual criminal responsibility. Later on this method would be called, in the criminal underworld, "forced snitching." This is precisely what Antonov Ovseenko, Tukhachevski, his deputy Uborevich, and all other strategists did: they forced all the people to become traitors and rats, forced them to betray their neighbors, relatives, fathers, and brothers, and then go after them in the forests and kill them. Tukhachevski  introduced universal betrayal, using fear to crush and destroy the centuries-old Russian village morale. He replaced all moral codes with fear for one's own skin, and made each person accountable for all the others' deeds. Tukhachevski's idea was to crush the peoples sense of their own worth. When we speak of the defeats of 1941, we blame Stalin. Let us not forget that the crushing of the people was done under the immediate command and on the initiative of the very same strategists who were later, during the purges, eliminated by Stalin

In 1941, the masses who were taught by Tukhachevski to value only their own skin a priori could not have exhibited heroism.”[i]

In several parts of his book, Suvarov notes that the Soviet power structure was not any kind of legitimate government, they were in fact a criminal gang who seized power and then held onto that power using the methods and tactics of criminals. And one of their most effective means of bringing people into line, was forcing others to share their guilt. Breaking people down, forcing them to betray their loved ones, their relatives, their friends, their heroes, so that everyone had a seared and damage conscience. Everyone was complicit and therefore everyone was guilty, and no one was able to trust anyone else. They fractured the moral fibre of society, so that there was no one with the moral backbone or high point to stand.

We have seen some similar tactics used in our own nations in recent years. Not on the same scale of course, because there were no death squads and there was no hostage taking. But people were encouraged to turn on each other, betray each other, nark on each other, point fingers at each other, and see each other as the enemy, rather than recognize that we were all victims of those who were seeking to take away our liberties and way of life. And look how many people capitulated, to a far more mild form of what the communists enacted in past decades and centuries. So many gave in, so many capitulated to evil.

Do you think our society would have the moral courage to oppose such a systematic suppression of people’s rights and dignities? Of course not. In many ways our society has been increasing personal moral corruption and decadence, which has had the effect of weakening people to the point where taking any kind of moral stand is outside of the desires of even many of the most religious of people. Most people just do not have the desire to stand for righteousness, because they have already given it up in so many areas of life and society.

But there is something which should encourage us in this situation.

Though much of our society did capitulate, many people did not. And this is even more important; many people who did give in now realize their mistake in having capitulated the first time. When those mandates and exclusionary rules came along, they depended on people narking on each other to really have any effect. And some of the people who supported them now realize how they made a mistake, how they went too far, how they barracked for the wrong team. Some of these people will not go along with such nonsense again. Their resistance-to-evil-muscles have been woken from their atrophied state and they now realize how real and present the dangers of evil are, even in our relatively peaceful society.

The key lesson we should take from Sukarov and the Covid years is that when evil is seeking to crush a people, one of its chief aims is to turn the people against each other and make as many people as possible complicit in the evil as well. Wickedness wants others to have guilt on their hands, because those who have a guilty conscience often find it harder to stand up in boldness, because they are already defeated in their own mind.

This shows us a couple of things. 1) It is important to resist evil when it tells you to turn on your neighbour, even if it costs you. Because doing what is right is a reward in and of itself. 2) It is important to forgive those who feel guilty about failing to do the right thing, so that their guilty conscience can be healed, and they can be better encouraged to stand better next time. No one gets it right all of the time, and especially when they are not prepared for the struggles that come. Of course, the guilty need to be repentant, otherwise they have not learned anything. But if they are repentant and they recognize their wrong, then they are at least now in a position of having a new awareness of how evil can affect them, when they least expect it, and will likely be more sensitive to it next time.

One of the only ways that a village that had endured the kind of purge that the communists employed could move on, and begin to again mount a resistance to evil, would have been to come together, realize how they were all coerced into evil, forgive each other for their complicity, and begin to stand again. If they could not do this, then they had no chance of standing up to evil successfully, because they have all been atomized and turned into fractured units, and fractured units cannot withstand any real kind of pressure.
