14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage" (Jude 1:12-16).
You might protest, and say, my pastor is a good man, but he's OK with pastrix's (women pastors) and he's big on the gospel having environmental implications, he's also ok with Welcome to Country. But here is the kicker, "So what." He is supposed to anchor his teaching and beliefs in the Bible, not the winds of society.
The larger problem in the Church is that many of these pastors who are outright non-Christians are influential, and many other pastors look at them, see they are saying or doing something different, and then they copy them. Maybe not on the more controversial things, like LGBT, issues, but on many others, like Welcome to Country or women pastors. Heck, even on LGBT issues many conservative guys soften their stance, because some famous Evangelical tells them to.
Many pastors today are captivated by trends, and they are not wise enough to see how they are being manipulated by genuine evil to follow after these trends. But we were warned there would be real, genuine and dark evil seeking to lead the Church. These stat's shoutout that the Apostles were spot on.
This should be a warning to easily led pastors, to ignore the current thing, so they don't get "swept along by wind". And to drill back down into the solid anchor of God's word. But many won't do this, because it means standing against their pastoral friends, and often wider Church community.
This is why Satan runs rampant in the Church. Many of the guardians of the Church, the shepherds, are not real shepherds, they are thieves, come into steal, destroy, and many well-meaning shepherds are too weak to contradict them, let alone oppose them. They care more about career advancement than truth, and because of this the cycle exacerbates.
There are many good shepherds, great shepherds. But even many of them are too quiet about this. To these pastors I say this: Speak up guys, it is needed. To Christians: if your pastor is following the trends of the world, perhaps it is because they are of the world.
