"Progress" looks a lot like regress, doesn't it.
Go back far enough in the West and men and women, their children and their dog (I'm not exaggerating) had to work to maintain their plot of land on their landlord's property. We reached a short Golden age where a labourer could buy a house, support his home-managing wife and pay off a remarkable house, and Western people rejected this. Now kids are going back to work.
Progress = regress when it is progressing away from God's standard.
