Boast In The Lord

This is a good word for us all to take to heart - 

"23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 9:23-24

Wisdom can easily be misdirected. How many of us have seen those considered wise fall? Might comes and it goes. The human body is strong and frail, and even if you stay healthy your might fades over time anyway. Riches are fleeting, and though they can improve your life in many ways, they can also be a distraction and lead you off into the worship of wealth. But boasting in the Lord, that is what will last. Those who know the Lord and understand him, and know that we should enact justice, love our neighbour and live in righteousness, they are the ones whose acts will last into eternity. 

The mighty, the wealthy, the scholar all fade away, and if you trust in them you will one day be disappointed. But if you set your hopes on the Lord this will not fail you.
