Over the last
few days a lot of information has come out about how Charlie Kirk was afraid of
Israeli leaders and Zionists because he had criticised them mildly and they
were putting pressure on him to reverse course. Insiders who knew him have
released this. But public videos demonstrate this is
likely valid too.
Some have used this to insinuate that Israel may have been involved in his
assassination.
There are
rational reasons to think so. Those who know the history of Mossad's political
assassinations will know that Israel is the world leader in this area. Even
many of their supporters know this. If you are not aware of this, I will let
you go and research that yourself. However, I must stress that there is no clear evidence right now that Israel was involved in this instance. Even though this
is dominating discussions online, it is also possible that other groups had
motive, perhaps radical left-wing groups, or it may even be the case that the
lone gunman is all there is. But we'll likely never have a full story we can
trust. People will be pouring over the reported discrepancies for years, as
they have other such events. And we know the mainstream narrative is always false in some way.
I'd like to
focus on a different direction, though, Charlie's fear of Israel. This has been
unquestionably established. And it is not a minor issue. For a host of
political or theological commentators this fear exists. There has been a
chilling effect on speaking about Israel, because as soon as you do, certain
people, often Christians, will start impinging on your motives. This is true
whether we talk in politics, in online discourse, the media, or even in many
Church circles.
Even Charlie
was attacked as an anti this and anti that for the most mild criticism of
Israel. His now viral recent interview with Megan Kelly demonstrates this. I
had seen him starting to question aspects of Israel's actions and claims, and I
also saw how it effected him to get attacked by such things, because I was
aware of his slight change towards criticizing Israel. Even though it was very
mild criticism.
There are
even Christians who believe that criticism of Israel will set you against God.
So, no matter how far they go on this or that crime against civilians in their
ongoing war to create greater Israel, these Christians will proclaim, "I
stand with Israel" without even thinking critically, for a moment. They'll
quickly signal their virtue. It's a matter of faith to them that criticism of
God's anointed puts them at odds with God, so they wont do it, and they'll even
defend some of the worst acts. They even have Bible passages taken out of
context that they use to justify taking this stance.
This is
nonsense theology. This puts them at odds with every prophet in the Bible.
Every single one. Men, and a handful of women, that represented God, but did
not stay silent. In fact, the behaviour of such Christians aligns much more
closely with those who opposed the prophets. Especially when they claim,
"God's people cannot be defeated," or things like this. The prophets
were often criticized for saying Israel would be defeated. Jeremiah
particularly caught heat for saying that the temple would be destroyed. His critics
had much the same response for very similar reasons as modern Christian
Zionists.
Charlie's
death is shining a bright light on the gospel. It may awaken a
generation, incredibly. We have all by now seen the testimonies of transgender
kids who had detransitioned because of Charlie’s work. We have all likely also
seen how many people are going back to Church or stating publicly that they
will begin to take their faith in Jesus Christ more seriously. This event is
magnifying the gospel greatly. Along with this comes shining a light on false
teachings, like the idea that a man of God wouldn't be criticizing Israel's
actions at a time like this. Well, Kirk did, and he was increasingly leaning
that way.
This idea
that you cannot criticize Israel is a sister doctrine of the idea that because
David didn't harm Saul in the cave, this means you should not criticize God's
anointed. This doctrine has enabled all sorts of false and degenerate teachers
to run wild in the evangelical church.
In fact, it's
not an accident that evangelical churches are the most prominent examples of
both these errors, they stem from the same rotten root in evangelicalism; a
misunderstanding of what it means to bless and curse. Running cover for evil is
not blessing someone or Israel, it's taking God's name in vain.
A lot of
Kirk's videos are going to be shared in coming weeks. Remember, when Israel
tries to claim him as their biggest supporter, remember how he was treated by
some Zionists and Christian Zionists for the most tepid criticism of their war
and political influence. The same way many Christians are treated on the same
issue. How can something the Bible itself does often be considered forbidden or
taboo in the people of God? Because the Church has been infested with false
theology on this issue.
Be not afraid, remember, God has not given you a spirit of fear.
