Israel Is Doing Badly

It is hard to get a real sense of what is happening in the world from the mainstream media. Not everything they produce is a lie, but a lot of it is, and even the selective way that many facts are presented creates a false image of what is happening in the world, with events large or small. Have you ever read a mainstream media article where they made some rare but extremely dangerous illness sound like it was about to strike in large numbers everywhere. Or conversely, have you read about that time where they all made out that a small, and relatively harmless virus was going to bring the end of civilisation if the government did not institute communism?

The lies of the media are legion…And yes that is meant to be a subtle reference to the demon called legion in the gospels. Remember the man who had at least 2000 demons in him? I would not be surprised if many of those demons were typing news stories around the world through their hosts today. The devil is the father of lies and his children are represented throughout the media. This is especially true when it comes to war.

If you believed what the media had to say, then Putin was meant to die of cancer a year or two ago. And Ukraine was only one cavalry style tank charge away from victory any day now. But of course, that was never the case, and in reality Russia has been handling everything Ukraine had to throw at it, including all that was given to them by the Western powers in clown world. Such is the state of the media, it does not tell us what we need to know about the world, it gives us little bits of information that we are allowed to hear about the world, or that the purveyors of the narrative want us to hear about the world.

The same is true when it comes to media reports about the war in Gaza and Lebanon right now. The media is either silent about what is happening, or spinning what is happening to make it look like Israel is winning. But if you read the media carefully, you can see where they let the truth shine through, even if not intentionally.

Take this article for example, titled, “'Moral darkness has fallen on Israel', defence minister declares” which tells us,

“Outgoing Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant slammed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhyahu's 'corrupt' policies in an emotional speech Tuesday night after he was sacked over a breakdown in trust during the Gaza war against Hamas.

Addressing the nation just hours after his dismissal, Gallant suggested that a 'moral darkness' had falled on the prime minister and claimed that his removal was due to disagreements over contentious issues faced by Israel's government.”[1]

Just a couple of weeks ago media outlets were tolling the effectiveness of this military defence minister, and how Israel had achieved victory over both Hamas and Hezbollah.[2],[3] As far as the media was concerned Israel was doing well, and its enemies were defeated, and no longer effectively fighting.

However, now, the Defense minister has been fired, and look why,

“This, he said, included disagreements over a new hostage deal and a 'corrupt' bill to exempt Orthodox Jews from completing IDF military service.

Referring to the hostage deal, Gallant said that Israel would have to make 'some painful compromises' in order to return the remaining hostages to their families and called on the governent to bring home hostages while they are 'still alive'.

'The State of Israel will know how to withstand these compromises, and the IDF will know how to secure them', he said, stressing its 'moral and ethical commitment to bringing back our sons and daughters'.

He also noted how the IDF military service exemption was 'discriminatory' as Israelis will have to deal with several security challenges in the years to come…

The decision to oust Gallant came amid controversy over the decision to draft 7,000 more ultra-orthodox Haredi Jews into the military.”[4]

This gives us our first clue that Israel is not going well. The Defense minister was fired because he was determined to conscript Orthodox Jews, against normal Israeli practice, and in opposition to political pressure to do otherwise. Why would he being doing this? Why would they still be trying to do a deal for the hostages if the enemy were defeated? Because they need the soldiers on the ground. Because they have not defeated them.

Israel is a relatively strong country, that is effectively supplied by the United States to be a very powerful fighting force. It is a relative super power in its region. But it is also a tiny country with a limited supply on manpower and has been fighting for over a year now. This would put a drain on any country, especially a tiny microstate like Israel. When militaries start expanding their conscription base, this is usually a sign things are not going according to plan. The Ukrainian president has already done this several times in the war with Russia, just to keep effective fighting men on the battlefield.

The other clue that this article gives that things are not going well is this,

“Gallant had clashed with Netanyahu over the future of the war in Gaza in recent months.

In his eyes, Israel should have shifted its focus more squarely to the northern border with Lebanon, where the military launched a major campaign to stop Iran-backed Hezbollah militants from launching cross-border attacks.”[5]

Just a couple of weeks ago media outlets were claiming that Hamas had been defeated, however, now they are noting that Israel cannot decide where to focus it efforts. This is a clear indication that no one has been defeated yet. If Hamas had been defeated then moving all the focus to Lebanon and Hezbollah would have been an easy decision. This one report puts to the lie many other claims made by the media in recent weeks. Showing that those claims were simply propaganda.

The increasing presence of the United States forces in the region supports my conclusions as well.[6] It is yet to be seen whether or not Trump will continue this presence, or increase it or decrease it. Past policies from him on the Middle East question point to the likelihood that he will increase the amount of US forces in the region in a bid to end this war quickly. However, we will have to wait and see what he does. His own often stated anti-War stance is a wild card on this issue, he may put pressure on Israel to accept its current position and stop the war. We just have to wait and see.

But, while we cannot be certain, it looks as though Israel’s war is not going well. The fights over drafting more troops, and the arguments over where to concentrate their forces, all point to an escalating problem that requires more men and more effort before things turn around. This also fits with the claims of some of the expert commentators who have being saying that the war is not going well, and could not go well. Many of them claim that Israel’s strategy is to bring the US in to tip the fighting in their favour. Let’s hope this does not happen. This would mean massive escalation.

As you know from my other writings on the subject, I am praying for peace. I am praying for Australia to be kept out of this escalating war. And I am praying that the change in American leadership may work in the favour of peace. Australia has a bad habit of joining America in its foreign wars, let’s ask God to please let it be different this time.

But as to the main point of this peace, note, you can get a sense of what is happening in the world from the mainstream media. You just have to read carefully what they say to recognize the things they are trying not to say, but let slip anyway. Of course, this does not give us the full picture, but what does, right? After all, did not Jesus say that when it comes to war we hear about “wars and rumours of wars”? Is it not incredible how this has not changed in nearly two thousand years, and that our Lord’s insights are so pertinent today.
