War Pigs and Prophecy

Have you ever actually listened to the lyrics of this famous song War Pigs by Black Sabbath and actually taken them in? Wow!!! We have all heard probably this song, at least in part. I know I have heard it used in films in the past. But I have never really listened to it thoroughly till this week. The song in powerful.

This song is a prophetic message about the coming judgement of God on warmongers, the "war pigs". The original name of the song was different, Walpurgis, and referred to a witchcraft/pagan festival from ancient Europe. In other words, the song was always designed to liken the evil warmongers to witches.

Which is kind of obvious if you actually read the lyrics:

"Generals gathered in their masses

Just like witches at black masses

Evil minds that plot destruction

Sorcerers of death's construction

In the fields the bodies burning

As the war machine keeps turning

Death and hatred to mankind

Poisoning their brainwashed minds

Oh Lord, yeah."

Have you noticed how irrational warmongers act sometimes, and the way they attack those who condemn forever wars? Whether those who are powerful, or just people you know? How they get this weird longing for war here or there? I have seen this a lot, especially in the last few years. There is something spiritual going on behind that. It is kind of crazy that Ozzy knew this better than most Christians. Though he did claim to be a Christian and to pray before his concerts (I have no idea how genuine this was).

The song explicitly mentions God's judgement coming on the evil warmongers:

"Now in darkness world stops turning

Ashes where their bodies burning

No more war pigs have the power

Hand of God has struck the hour

Day of Judgment, God is calling"

The song also mentions Satan laughing at the end, but apparently the Band said the reason for this is the song is likening the evil powers behind the scenes machinating for war to Satanic rituals. Which is accurate. Pagan religions have always included blood sacrifice, and war is this writ large across nations and battlefields.

If you listen to the song then read some of the passages in the Bible talking about God’s judgement on evil, it makes the song even more powerful. Read passages like Psalm 50:1-6, Revelation 19:17-21 and Isaiah 2:1-4 (go and actually do this), and it drives home the prophetic message even more: the Lord will judge the War Pigs. Satan is laughing because the War Pigs do his will, but the War Pigs will be judged, and as we know, then Satan will be as well.

"19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh...10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever." (Rev. 19:19-21, 20:10).

Incredible how prophetic this song is. Praise God that eventually the warmongers lose. There is such thing as a just war, which I know someone will want to respond. And to that I say, I know, I am not a pacifist. But how rare are just wars? Rare, very, very, very rare. And likely some of those we even consider to be just, are simply a product of the war sorcerers behind the scenes casting their spells to get the war machine rolling.
